The Best Stay at Home Jobs For Moms: Get the Flexibility you Need
Being made redundant from my job whilst on maternity leave made me start thinking seriously about looking for a stay at home mom job, and making it possible for me to earn money while still being able to be home with the kids.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has battled with wanting to stay at home with my kids but also feeling the need to be earning an income to help provide for them financially.
It seems unfair that exorbitant childcare costs can often mean it’s just not worth going to work, and while not exclusively, this can be the case particularly for moms. We end up working only to be able to cover the costs of childcare, or in some cases, going to work and actually losing money on childcare, just to be able to keep our jobs.
It sucks. And sometimes it just doesn’t work out, whether that’s financially or practically. What works for one family might not work for another.
That’s where stay at home mom jobs come in. Finding a way to earn money while still being able to be home with the kids, that’s the aim!
Why Choose a Stay at Home Mom Job?
There are lots of benefits to working from home, especially for parents.
Flexibility
Children don’t come with schedules. They don’t sleep regular hours (at least to start with!), they need plenty of attention and as they grow up they end up with crazy schedules of their own involving school and extra curricular activities, not to mention the school holidays which throw any sense of routine out the window.
Working from home gives parents the freedom to work around family commitments, choosing to work the hours that are convenient.
More Time with Children
Finding a good stay at home mom job means being able to spend more time with your children while still being able to make some money. Being at home also means you can save time (and money) on commuting to and from work.
Lower Childcare Costs
Working from home means not having to pay those increasingly expensive childcare costs, so the money you make goes straight to you and your family finances.
